Check-In Chicken - A Chrome Extension That Helps Users Stay on Task for Certain Set of “Focus Times”
Check-In Chicken is a free Chrome extension that helps users stay on task for a certain set of "focus time", and gives them free time for timed breaks. It is a way to check in on the user's mental health.
We were inspired by the concept of a "Pomodoro Timer" and wanted to create something similar to forward our goal. We wanted to implement a more unobtrusive way of providing mental health support, so we developed this Chrome Extension that helps users have more focus on what they do and provides them with needed reassurance and helpful tips to a productive and healthy work environment.
We felt that there was a huge gap between mental health and productivity. And we wanted to fill it. The extension is easy to use, and is integrated with the web browser so that the user can have a seamless experience and feel confident that they're being monitored.
We're using Google Developer to develop this extension. The web-based application works as follows:
Every time the user starts the browser, they'll be asked to provide their focus time and break time so that the extension can monitor and track their productivity and mental health.
Every time the user starts the browser, a background process is initiated which monitors the Chrome session. When the user is idle for a certain amount of time, it will check to make sure the user is still studying.
